Duo charged for breaking into Albouystown shop

first_imgA cleaner and a driver were remanded to prison on Wednesday by Magistrate Faith McGusty when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to answer to a larceny charge.Compton Fernandes, 47, of Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and Latchman Sukham, 43, of Albouystown, Georgetown denied the charges that between May 20 and May 21, 2019 at Albouystown, Georgetown, they broke and entered the shop of Shanelle Prince and stole two gas bottles valued $17,000 and one Samung music set speaker valued $96,000.The prosecution is contending that a relative of the owner was passing the business establishment when that person noticed that the shop was opened. Upon checking, the two men were discovered in the shop and an alarm was raised. Fernandes and Sukham were both arrested.Prosecutor Ceon Blackman objected to bail on the grounds of the prevalence of the offence and also stated that the men provided incorrect addresses to the Police.Magistrate McGusty upheld the prosecutor’s submission and remanded the two men to prison.
